These tried and true methods are sure to produce beautiful photos with the added bonus of relaxing a nervous subject:
Photograph your subject in action. Get them to play leap frog, balance on a fence post or blow bubbles etc. Anything that will distract them from the fact they are in a photo shoot.
Think of things that will make your subjects’ expressions change. Examples include getting a couple to tell each other a secret or tickle each other.
3. Play the fool
Remember to keep talking to your subject(s) and get them to laugh by joking around.
4. Eye contact
This works particularly well with wedding couples. Get them to pose formally then ask them to look at each other and see what happens (see the example below).
Suggest your subject(s) include a prop in their session to help them loosen up and have fun. This could include a ball from a sport they love (see the example below) or a guitar, umbrella etc.
